Bid farewell to the year in the natural paradise known as Asturias

Asturias is a mosaic of landscapes that reach their peak splendor in winter. The imposing peaks of the Picos de Europa covered in a blanket of snow offer a spectacular view from various parts of the city. If you're looking for a relaxing walk, you can stroll through the trails of the Somiedo Valleys or the Nalón Valley.
The Nalón River is also worth mentioning; it is the longest and most voluminous in the region. Other notable rivers include the Sella, famous for canoeing, and the Cares, which offers spectacular hiking routes. The Covadonga Lakes, located in this national park, become a magical place with snow covering the mountains and the Enol and Ercina lakes.

Asturian Gastronomy in December
Asturian cuisine is rich and varied, especially in December. Fabada asturiana, a stew of beans with chorizo, blood sausage, and bacon, is a comforting dish ideal for winter. Another typical dish is pote asturiano, a stew of cabbage, potatoes, and compango (chorizo, blood sausage, and bacon). Desserts are also a delight, with rice pudding and casadielles (sweet pastries filled with walnut and anise) taking center stage.

Celebration Traditions in Asturias in December
Christmas in Asturias is a time of traditions and celebrations. Cities and towns are illuminated with Christmas lights and decorated with nativity scenes. In Villaviciosa, for example, the Nativity Route is often followed, which includes several handcrafted nativity scenes distributed throughout the city.
A unique tradition is that of the Angulero, a figure similar to Santa Claus who arrives from the sea to bring gifts to children. Winter Masquerades are also celebrated, a festivity where participants dress up in masks and traditional costumes.
Christmas Menu and New Year's Eve Dinner
The Gran Hotel Las Caldas not only offers a gala dinner for New Year's Eve but also prepares an exquisite Christmas menu for Christmas dinner. This menu includes a selection of traditional and modern dishes, made with fresh and local ingredients. From seafood and fish to meats and typical desserts, each dish is designed to delight your palate and make your celebration an unforgettable culinary experience.
