The Moulin Rouge Cabaret for the first time in Mallorca
For the very first time in Spain, the ballet dancers of MOULIN ROUGE PARIS presented their Premiere show on 19 and 20 June at the exclusive 5 star resort Blau Porto Petro with the collaboration of the Balearic Institute of Tourism (IBATUR)
This event took place on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the icon of the Parisian night, the MOULIN ROUGE
Palma de Mallorca, June 21st, 2009. Hotel Blau Porto Petro, an exclusive 5 star resort, had the honour to host the first and only two performances of the famous cabaret Moulin Rouge in Mallorca. This island was chosen by the renowned cabaret as part of their 120th anniversary promotion.
The show, which was presented in Spain for the first time in history, took place on June 19 and 20 with a spectacular ensemble of artists, acrobats and the famous DORISS GIRLS. Luxury and glamour arrived in Mallorca together with 1.500 kg of feathers, jewellery and the impressive exclusive costumes of the prettiest dancers in the world.
The artists of Moulin Rouge, an icon in France, arrived to Mallorca one week before the event for rehearsals and to discover the most beautiful spots of the island guided by the Balearic Institute of Tourism. The IBATUR organized a varied programme so that the artistic ensemble would get to know the attractive highlights of Mallorca, and filmed the Moulin Rouge artists' visit to the island. This film production will be used by Ibatur for future promotional campaigns in the French market.
Parisian pizzazz in a show that was specially designed for this event and which ended with the world famous "Can-Can" took place during the fantastic Gala Dinner with more than 800 visitors on both days and performances of the Live Orchestra Clou Experience from Germany and the famous magicians Erick Lantin and Valerie and their show with live tigers and panthers on stage. The event was held outdoors on a 150m2 stage surrounded by forests and Mediterranean calas. The evening began at 9 p.m. on both days. The live orchestra accompanied the visitors through an unforgettable evening ending at 02:00 a.m.
About Moulin Rouge:
Moulin Rouge is a traditional cabaret which was founded by Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler in 1889. It is situated along the foot of Montmartre (París, France). Famous for its big imitation of the red wheel on the roof of its building it is and has been for 120 years the emblematic symbol of the Parisian night, being a main sightseeing attraction for many tourists.
The Moulin Rouge, world-wide famous thanks to its French Can-can, and immortalized by the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, has always presented sumptuous shows to its spectators. Today, the show of the Moulin Rouge, "Féerie", continues the tradition.
An €8 million budget went into creating this revue, which includes more than 1000 costumes, 800 pairs of custom made shoes, dozens of handmade settings, a giant aquarium, five pythons, six dwarf horses, and much more.
