Almost 25 years experience in hotel management
The Roxa Group was set up in 1942 with the opening of a tailor’s, moving on to centre much of its business around the car distribution sector and running a total of 8 dealerships representing 9 major car brands. In 1987 it decided to diversify its business and created a Hotel Division – Blau Hotels & Resorts. The new chain opened its first hotel, the Blau Punta Reina Club, in 1990. It aimed to position itself in the top-end holiday market with properties located in privileged strategic settings, respecting the environment and mainly focusing on family and couples tourism.
Initially, Blau Hotels & Resorts centred its efforts on consolidating its presence on its home island, Majorca, and in just 2 years (1997 and 1998) added 3 further establishments to its portfolio: Colonia Sant Jordi Club, Blau Mediterráneo Hotel and Blau Mediterráneo Club.
Having acquired wide experience in hotel management for large resorts, in 1999 the chain decided to export its know-how and open its first international complex: the Natura Park Beach Eco Resort in the Dominican Republic. The great success of this first overseas experience led Blau Hotels & Resorts to commit to expansion in another major Caribbean destination: Cuba. In 2003 it opened the Blau Arenal Club, following this in 2004 with the Blau Colonial Hotel and in 2005 with the Blau Costa Verde and the Blau Varadero Hotel.
Not forgetting its roots, the same year saw the company open what is probably its flagship property, at least in Spain: the Blau Port Petro Beach Resort & Spa. This magnificent 5-star hotel is located in one of the most beautiful spots in eastern Majorca, built on a 140,000 metres square peninsula with direct access to 2 marvellous Mediterranean coves.
Blau Hotels & Resorts is currently looking at new quality projects to add to its present portfolio of 10 hotels offering nearly 5,000 rooms across Spain, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
